Pontiac Repair: Please help, I dont know whats wrong, turn signal switch, pontiac grand prix

Question

pontiac I have a 1990 pontiac grand prix....The guages were just messed up so we parked it. Like, the speedometer always said I was going 120 mph and the gas guage always said It was a fourth of a tank full...no matter how much gas I put in it. Well, my dad cranked it up today and smoke started comming from the steering wheel....please help.

I would say that you have an issue with the insterment cluster assembly if just the gauges are not working and the car runs okay. The cluster it's self is bad that is just a guess though. As for the smoke from the steering column it needs a turn signal switch.
