Pontiac Repair: 99 pontiac sunfire, pontiac sunfire, noise sound

iwas driving my car about 75 miles ph going up a hill when suddenly it lost power and turned off then i tried to started and fired up but has a knocking sound sounds like something bouncin in the valve cover someone said it was a push rod so if you can help me that would be great

well with out hearing this noise It's hard to say. Does the engine run okay or is is misfiring and not running on all 4 cylinders? does the noise sound like it's going 1/2 the speed of the engine or at the same speed? If it sounds like 1/2 the spped it's valve trian related and then it's going to need so tear down to find where the noise is comming from. It could get expensive in a hurry. it could be a rocker arm or a vlave spring that broke just to name a few items.
