Pontiac Repair: 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix, crank shaft, pontiac grand prix

Question
My son drives a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix - It has been stalling out every couple of days - the no trac light comes on when it stalls out. Had it in and out of the mechanics shop.  He has replaced the crank shaft sensor, the ignition control modular and just had a new computer put it.  The car is still stalling.  Any suggestions on what the problem can be.

Answer
Hi Elizabeth:

Has the service engine soon light come on at all and stayed on while the engine is running? if so it's setting trouble codes which can lead to what is going on here. If not then it's a guessing game and the guessing game gets expensive and frustrating. The trac Off light comes on due to the stalling condition rather then a cause of the stall. if this car has a 3800 V6 engine I would possibly suspect a MAF sensor is acting up I have seen then act up and not cause a trouble code to set it act up fast enough that is affect the fuel mixture so much the car dies out but will not set a code. Again It's a guess. You may wan tot try to wiggle the connetor on it with the engine running nand see if you can indue a stall. the MAF sensor is on to of the throttle body which is where the throttle cables are attached to and the rubber hose that attached the air cleaner assembly to the engine. it has three wires on it I think yellow,Pink and black and see if it stalls if so you found it. Good luck :)
