Pontiac Repair: Pontiac repair, pontiac bonneville, pressure gage

Question
I have a 1992 Pontiac Bonneville that runs fine on cool days but in heavy traffic on warm days it idles butacts like it runs out of gas. I have to pull it over and let it cool down for about 15 mins. Then I can make about 1/2 mile before it does it again.

Answer
Hi Larry:

I would put a fule pressure gage on the car and let it run untill it's hot and starts to act up and see what the pressure is at that engine is around 40-42 PSI I belive if it drops much below that then it will act like you said. If it does drop off they I would suspect a bad pump. while you at it replace the fuel filter as well more then likley it's plugged and is the root cause of the pump failure. Good luck :)
