Pontiac Repair: 1998 Pontiac Trans sport starter, pontiac trans sport, starter solenoid

I went out to start my van and nothing happened. it is not the battery cause all the other electrical things work fine. it makes a single click and that is all so I am wondering if it is my starter and how I would test it to see if that is where the problem is. Thank You.

Hey Ronnie:

well you need to see if your are indeed getting full battery volatge down at the starter solenoid? If it's not the solenoid will not enguage fully and then start the starter motor spinning. have someone crank the car while use use a test light on the Purple wire at the starter when the van is cranked the light should light bright If so also check the red battery wire at the solenoid as well if that light bright as well the starter motor is bad.
