Question
Forgot to unplug negative lead from battery to replace water pump took coil and module pack off...now car won't start...no fire from coil and module...replaced new module...will the car start if distributor lead wire is cracked??

Answer
Hi duanne:

I'm going to assume this is a V8 engine? If so chances are that water/coolant got into the optispark distributor. Its should run if that coil wire is cracked but you will see spark jumping from the wire to the engine block. did you hook up the ground wires on the coil bracket? if you left those off it will not run. but chances are that water got into the distributor and it's not serviceable you have to get a complete assembly.. Of course ther could be something else wrong but I have seen it happen more then once.. You need to find a trouble flow chart for that engine and a no spark condition chart and follow it to be sure. My online service info only goes back to 1998 and the engines were different in 98 then in 95. Good luck :)
