Pontiac Repair: Car Wont Budge, ding ding ding, leak acid

Question
The car is a 2000 Trans Am V8 with Ram Air WS6 Package. I just aquired it from a previous owner about a month ago, and have driven it about a dozen times since purchase.  I drove it all day yesterday, parked it, shut it off, then realized I pulled up to far, hopped in, turned the key, and wham, nothing- just like the battery went dead, but no voltage, nothing registering. Then (with key out) all the dials went haywire! I heard a clicking (like the alarm?) under the dash, then nothing, then dials again, then nothing. The ding-ding-ding of the door being left open when a key was in the ignition was waning like the battery was dead. But the dials! Even with the door shut and out of the car they would sparratically jump. The car is dead. I got out and set the alarm (dash light blinking) I left it alone until this morning, still same result.  Please help. We jiggled battery terminals, felt around under the dash, etc. to no avail. Thanks you!

Answer
Hi Amanda:

Does this have a factory alarm system or an aftermarket alarm system. if it's an aftermarket alarm all bets are off as to what the issue may be. when you turn the key to run do all of the dash lamps come on the blower motor work raduio etc??? if not you either have a bad ground or a power gfeed issue. take a look at the battery cables the batteries in these cars leak acid and you can get a bad connection between the battery and the cable(S) look their first.
