Question
Pontiac Repair: Service Traction and Engine Light, mass air flow sensor, 2007 pontiac g5
service traction light
I have a 2007 Pontiac G5 GT.  My service traction light and engine light are on.  The car jerks when i press the gas from a complete stop. I have had both the purge valve and mass air flow sensor replaced already.  And it did these things before when both of those things were bad.  I drove it for a little while with the lights on and shut it off.  When i drove it back home i noticed the service traction light was not on the jerking motion had stopped but the engine light is still on.  What do you think it could be?

Answer
Hey Josh:

What codes are stored in the barke control module and in the engine control module? were the codes cleared out after the pieces were replaced? if so what codes came back? if the codes were not cleared the engine control module will not turn the lamp off untill usually untill 3 drive cycles have passed with out a fault. then the lamp will turn off by it's self. It will not clear the code out butit will turn off the light if the fault is gone. the engine and brake control modules share data with each other so if there is a fault in either module it can turn on either or both warning lights so there may not be an issue at all with the brake module that lamp may be on due to the engine control module issue. good luck :)
