Pontiac Repair: car repair, pontiac firebird, changing computers

Question
i have a 95 pontiac firebird with  a 4:3  v 6 and want to swap motors what v 8 would be the easiest? Or what v 6 would give it more power without changing computers

Answer
Hi Kayla:

switching to any thing other then what is in the car now is a MAJOR project due to the suspension being set up from the factory for a V6 the electronics in the negine compartment are completly different for any other engine other then the 3.4 liter it has now. If you go with a bigger V6 AKA a 4.3 or 3800 the bolt pattern on the trnamission will not mate to the engine and if it did the trnamission would not be able to handle the increased torque from the engine so you stuck. If the engine is bad go find your self another 3.4 or get that one fixed. If you looking to improve the performance good luck that engine was put in that car for 2 reasons a price point and to help keep their average fuel economy down for that model year. perfomance was not in the though process at all.
