Pontiac Repair: head lights, low beams, wireing harness

Question
Hi.
I have a 98 sunfire my DRL do not work and only the passenger high beam works. My low beams both work. I have changed the drivers light and it still does not work. Both low beams are really dim and when I first turn the car on, both lights flash on and off really fast, then they turn off and don't work until I turn the low beams on.
My car was hit on the drivers side a few times first by a deer and 2 months ago while I was at work the drivers fender and front was hit really good.

Answer
Hi Felicia:
You have a wireing harness issue with this car.It was pretty common for these to have issues any way but factor in the accidents the car has had and I'm sure one or more of the wires going to the headlamps have issues either a wire splice is bad and corroded or one or more of the wires were pinched and the elemnts have gotten into the harness and corroed the harness. Either way it's an issue that has be be fixed. if the car is in goos shape and you plan on keeping it get a new forward lamp harness for the car and have it put in. In the long run it will be cheaper if you have some one repair the harness your only going to have issues again due to the fact that the factor harness protection is cut into to fix it.. It lasted 12 years before it gave you a problem so go with a new harness. Good luck :)
