Pontiac Repair: push rods., push rods, engein


Question
hey im kinda a little stuck here.... i have a 94 grand prix se with a 3.1L engine.... i had to replace the rocker arms and i kinda forgot which push rods go in which holes... i know the longer ones are the exhaust and the shorter ones are the intake im just not sure where they go exactly, if u can answer this it would save me alot of trouble.. thanks... justin

Yes your right long are exhaust and short of intake. you can tell by looking at the intake when you put them it the run the inatke valve you can see the ports the intake valve are in with the inatke manifold off the head. The outter most vlaves on the heads are the exhaust and you can figure ouyt the rest from there. Depending on wetahre this is a roller rocker arm engein or a stud and ball rocket arm the intake gaskets have guides the push ros run in and they are uniform the exhaut have the guises at the top and the inatke have a dimple they ride in That is with the newer roller rocker arm set up gaskets.. Hope that doesn't confuse you. But with the valve covers off yopu can see which valves are for the exhaust by looking at the manifols and here the posts are for the exhaust manifolds..
