Pontiac Repair: starter will not engage..., neutral safety switch, soleniod

Question
Hi!  I pulled into gas station for my morning coffee and came back to find my junk car will not start...  I own a 1998 pontiac Grand am 4 cyl... manual trans...  dash lights, radio, all fuses are ok...  starter will not engage... no click...  no voltage draw... (no load)..  I believe the starter is fine... and suspect the neutral safety switch...  any other suggestions...  your advice is greatly appreciated... thank you!

Answer
Hey Myles:

it could be the clutch safety switch there is not neutral swithc on a Manual trans car. you need to see if indeed you are getting power down to the starter solenois when you crank it the solenid could have quit on the starter. have someone crank it while you check the power feed at the solenoid it is the purple wire. if you have power there the starter soleniod is bad. if not then trace it back into the car at the clutch switch on the fire wall the wire chnages colors i believe from yellow to purple that goes the the starter and check the yellow wire there that comes from the ignition switch if you have power on the yellow but not out on the purple when the clutch is depressed the swithc is bad.. Id no power on the yellow chances are the ignition switch is bad. good luck :)
