Pontiac Repair: 2000 Pontiac Grand Am, blower motor Grand Am

Question
Fan does not blow on any settings on heat, A/C or defrost. What would I need to fix? Blower or resistor?  Thank you!

Answer
Hi Sheila:

It can be either on of them or a blow fuse. Did is loose some of the lower speeds before it stopped altogether If so I would say resistor. If it just quit out of the blue I would say a bad motor but without seeing it it's hard to say exactly this is what's wrong with it. The best way to tell is to attach a 12Volt test light upto the blower motor connector and turn on the fan to full hi and it should light the lamp bright if it doesn't light it' a resistor/connection issue. if the light light bright it's a bad motor... I have also seen water leaks into the heater box and cause the connector on the blower resistor corrode up and cause this issue.. Good luck :)
