Pontiac Repair: 2003 Montana Heated Seats, haynes manual, troubleshooting electronics

The heater in my passenger seat will not come on or it will not heat n any case.  Driver's side works fine.  The Haynes manual only shows one switch yet there are two switches in my console.  Before I tear into this I was wondering if you could offer any troubleshooting advice or tips.  I am very comfortable troubleshooting electronics so feel free to go in depth as possible.

Hi Tim:

First off Hyanes manulas are NOT very good. Use either a Mitchel manual or Chilton's. Or access on line at Alldata. More then likely the heater elemnet has gone bad in either the seat cushion or the seat back. that is usually the only thing that goes bad with them. You have to buy them in a set I belive due to the fact that new and old heater resiatances in the coils differ and they have to be the same or the heater will not work properly. good luck :)
