Pontiac Repair: heating, blower motor resistor, blown fuse

Question
I have a 1999 pontiac grand am se 4cyl. The Heating nor cooling works when I turn the switch nothing happens is it the blower motor or blower motor resistor

Answer
Hi Greg:

it can be either or. You need a 12 volt test light and check the power and ground to the blower motor. unplug the motor and use the test ligh acreoos the 2 wires turn the car on and the fan on Hi the test light should light brightly. if so it's the motor that's bad. if the light does not light up more then likely it's the resistor or possably a blown fuse. Did this just stop workin one day or did it start loosing the lower speeds until eventually it stopped all together. If that is the case for sure the resistor is the culprit. If the resistor is replaced make not of the electrical connect to make sure it is not corroded looking.. Good luck :)
