Pontiac Repair: 92 bonneville clicking from fuse/switch box, digital volt meter, fuse switch

Question
QUESTION: I have a 92 Bonneville SE.  Yesterday it simply died on me and sits where it died.  Luckily it was in my yard.  Over the past few weeks I've heard a click come from the fuse, switch area by the passenger seat.  When the click happened the power would die for a quick second and then come back.  Over an hour it would happen about every 20 minutes. It occurs even if I have radio, A/C, fan - everything- off.

Yesterday, I looked under there to see if there was a frayed wire or whatever - indicating some kinda short.  Nothing there.

Right now, if I open the door, the interior lights click on and off really fast and I hear the clicking coming from the fuse area. If I turn the ignition switch, everything goes off.  once I release the ignition switch the clicking starts again.

ALso, I tried to jump the car thinking it may be the battery, but nothing changes.

ANY idea of what this may be?

ANSWER: Hi There:

well you have some sore of a bad connection either a major ground or power that is either loose or is corroded. First take a look at the battery. this var has 2 (+) cables that are paired up on the battery corrosion builds up between the cables and or at the battery post. make sure both cables are clean and tight.  Another place to look is under the sill plate at the l/f side of the car I belive there is a big grouns splice pack under the sill plat and carpet They are all black wires. If the car has a water leak the water tends to pool on the floor pan under the carpet and the water wicks up into the ground splice and same end result. Those are the paces I would look at first. Good luck :)

QUESTION: Could the switch itself be going bad?  I get power as but the clicking from the fuse area turns the lights on and off. I don't see any leaks nor is the carpet wet.

Answer
It could be. If you have a digital volt meter check to see if you have a full 12 volts on the fuses with the key in the run position, If not then check the power inputs to the ignition switch usually they are a heavy gauge (12) or (10) red wires at the switch there usually is 2 inputs to the switch check both of them if you 12 volts in and not 12 volts out it's the switch. If everything shows 12 volts you have a gound problem.
Good luck :)
