Pontiac Repair: front end noise, strut mounts, spring seats

Question
Hi Tim,

My daughter has a 2001 Grand Am.  She recently started hearing a noise in the front end.  It's not the engine or the tranny.  Had the driver side wheel bearing replaced, but the noise is still there.  Short of tearing the whole front end apart, any idea what may be causing the noise?

Thanks for your help and have a great day!

Answer
would you describe the noise as a growling type noise or an itching type noise over bumps?  if it isa growling that is only heard when the tires are rolling it could be the right side hub and bearing, or a bearing inside the trans.  If it is a noise over bumps you need new strut mounts and spring seats
