Pontiac Repair: A/C Blower, blower motor resistor, water pools

Question
Hi Todd - I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am (GT - 3.4L V6) and had experienced a problem with the blower motor not working at the level 1 & 2 settings (worked at 3, 4 & 5). I replaced the blower motor resistor as suggested in several forums. Now the blower only works at level 5. Did I get a bad resistor or might something else have been my problem? Thanks.

Answer
Hi Jeff:

If only 1 and 2 were in oup and now the rest of the speeds are inop but 5 I would say you got a bad resistor or the wrong resistor for that car. When you tool out the old one did it look Burnt out? If so that was the issue. If the circuit board wasn't burnt out looking then you have some other issue going on. usually on these cars that's the only thing that happens. You may also want to take a look at the plug that goes into the resistor. If the heater box bad a water leak the water pools up and leaks out into the plug for the resistor. Good luck :)
