Pontiac Repair: grand am 1997, psi pressure, factory security

Question
97 grand am 3.1 v6 wont start has fire gas pops like  timeing is out what could it be

Answer
Hi Mike:

is the security lamp on and or flashing when it trys to start? if so there is an issue with the factory security system. And more then likely it's the ignition lock housing that is bad. If not the security lamp issue then you need to check the basics . fule pressure it should have around 40-45 psi pressure. There needs to be spark on all 6 cyliners. if you missing either of those it will not start. That is where I would start looking.. Oh one last thing before this happened did you have any kind of warning lamps on like security or service engine soon? If so then there are codes stored in some of the car's modules and those codes can point in a direction as to what is wrong.
