Pontiac Repair: Wiper Arm, tension release, passenger arm

Question
98 Olds Intrigue, passenger arm does not wipe. Nut under cap moves and the arm bumbs in park position. Tightened no go. So does the arm pry off with a screwdriver, or is there a tension release point under the arm. I see a small metal tab, with a hole in it, at the bottom of the spring.

Answer
Hi Mark:

The arm is stripped out on the trasnmission stud. take the nut off and you can stick a drill bit in that hole while you pull up on the arm and it will release tyhe tension the arm has against the windshild and the arm will just pull off. Normally you need a puller to get the arm off but being that it's stripped it should come right off. before you install the new arm use a small wire brush and clean the stripped out aluminum off the transmission stud or you will strip out another arm right away. good luck :)
