Pontiac Repair: 2006 Pontiac G6 GT front brakes, wheel lug nuts, 2006 pontiac g6

Question
QUESTION: Hi Todd, you have helped us before with my Mom's Sunbird!  My 2006 G6 has a problem with the front brakes.  When you apply the brakes the car shakes.  We have lubricated the caliper cylinder, changed the rotors.  The brakes have 90% left.  Any ideas?  Thank you!

ANSWER: Hi Natalie:

does the steering wheel shake when you apply the brakes or can you feel it in the brake pedal and in the seat? You may have an issue with the rear rotors on this car as well as from the front.. If the rotors were replaced and the wheels bearing hub's were not cleaned peoperly and have a rust build up on them the new rotos you just put on the car after a few heat cycles are now warped. If you live in the rust belt like I do that's more like the issue then anything else. the mounting surface that the rotos sit on have to be completly clean and free of and rust build up. Good luck :)

QUESTION: Todd,

We can feel the pulsing in the brake pedal and the shake in the steering wheel. We have install a new rotor and the problem remained. Could it be the callaper? My boyfriend cleaned all of the bearing hub, we live in Vancouver where their is no snow in the winter so where the rotor sits is very clean. Thanks for your help.

Answer
If you feel it in the steering wheel it's from the front for sure... It's not a caliper issue it's a rotor problem like I said before. that surface has to be completly clean a free of rust/rot. Also if the bearings were replaced the surface where the bearing sits on the steering knuckle has to be clean as well or the same result will happen.. Also the wheel lug nuts should be torqued to 100 Lbs. If they are not torqued right then yout will warp a rotor. reguardless it they pulsate already have the new rotors turned  to true them up and start at square 1 again.. Also like I said don't overlook the rear rortrs. Good luck :)
