Pontiac Repair: windows, 2007 pontiac g6, 30 amp fuse

Question
QUESTION: all windows on my 2007 pontiac g6 gt will not open or close checked fuse it is ok. what to do next? thanks

ANSWER: Hi George:

Is this a 4 door or a coupe/convertable. All the windows share the same fuse which in the fuse box in the center console it's a 30 amp fuse. The only other thing they share in common is the master window switch on the left front door. If that switch is bad it will not allow the other window(s) to work. without seeing it it's hard to say for sure what the issue here is but it has to be one or the other or a wiring issue going into the master window switch. Good luck :)

QUESTION: Hi  It is a 4 door coupe. The fuse I found is in the engine compartment by the battery. Pretty sure it is the right fuse but I will look again. Wiring connections all have locking clips so it may be master switch, unless I locate another fuse.  Do you know how to test master switch?
Thanks

Answer
The fues for the windows in is the center console under the radio it's a 30 amp fuse. to check the window switch you need to make sure you have battery voltage on the power input to the switch and then a good ground input to the switch. You'll need a test light or a volt meter. try the left front window wiring first the colors of tyhe wires should be brown and dark blue make sure you forward and biast voltage out of the switch that's why you need a volt meter across those wires with the switch plugged in you need battery volatage with the switch in one direction and a (-) battery voltage with the switch in the opisite direction. if you don't have that the switch is bad and that is why the other 3 windows don't work as well. by the way if this is an 07' car it is under warranty as long as it's under 36,000 and less then 3 years old.
