what is the best way to take the starter of this car and i had just cleaned the battery cables and now it just makes a lot of noise in the starter thanks for your time Chris

Hi Chris:

The starter grinds? That's not good it can be damaging the engine flywheel and that gets expensive to repair. You going to have to get the starter off the engine and take a look and see if it damaged the flywheel. The starter comes out the bottom of the engine compartment. It may make it easier to get to if you take the air dam off or drop the air dam down under the radiator to gain access to the wires and the bolts for the starter. If the flywheel teeth are not damaged then just replace the starter with a GOOD one get an AC Delco starter from a dealer or an AC Delco parts distributor.  good luck :)
