Pontiac Repair: gauges, pontiac grand am, guages

Question
I have a Pontiac Grand Am 1997 6 cylinder.  The gauges do not work.  Cannot tell mph or fuel amounts.  All gauges are out. Car runs.  Could this be a fuse?

Answer
Hi Pam:

Do any of the warning lamps work on the dash? If so it's not a fue issue the fuse for the dash runs all the indicators and warning lamps. If just the guages do not work I would say it's in the cluster it's self that bad. if nothing at all orks on the dash it can be the same thing that the cluster went bad OR that ther is an issue with the data line in the car that links all the modules together. all the modules in this car talk to each other on a network. if something happened to that data line or one of the other modules on that network went bad then the dash will be inop. it's hard to say for sure what's wrong with this without seeing it. Good luck :)
