Pontiac Repair: 1990 pontiac grand prix 3.1 liter, liter car, google search

car starts idles rough ,but will stay running.if i give it gas the egr starts making noise(opening).ive replaced the egr it still does the same thing.if i try to drive,the car starts surging.any comments will help.thank you

Did the Battery decently die on thuis car or been replaced? if so the thenine computer lost it's memory for idle speed control. there is a long process to follow to have the engine computer learn the idle speed. clean the throttle plat and throttel bore first before you try doing this. also diconnect the battery again and let it sit a few minutes.. do a google search for 3.1 liter engine idle speed learn and you will find the steps you need to do this.. If the battery was not the issue try this with the engine running tap on the engine computer with the handle end of a screw driver and see if the engine stubles or stalls if so the engine computer is bad and needs to be replaced. good luck :)
