Pontiac Repair: sunfire wont start, pontiac sunfire, fuel pump

Question
i have a 2004 pontiac sunfire 2.2. i just changed the fuel pump and drove my car over to a friends house. when i tried to start it my car sputtered then died, it turns over and fires but still will not start. any feed back would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hi Brian:

was the reason the fuel pump was replaced the exact same problem as now? whenit will not start and stay running is the security lamp on tyhe dash flashing? If so then there is an issue with the factory anti-theft system in the car most likely the ignition lock housing in the steering column is bad. If not then you need to check the basics fuel pump pressure should be near 50 psi on this engine and spark on all 4 cyliners. that's where I would start looking. Good luck :)
