Pontiac Repair: auto repair, car wont start, pontiac grand am

Question
my cars sterring collum was cut, i replaced collum but car wont start(it acts like it will but don't) 96 pontiac grand am

Answer
Hi Frank:

The reason it will not start or start and stay running is because the ignition lock housing has a different sensor in it then the original. Do this turn off all the accessories in the car attempt to start the car let it start and stall and leave the key in the oon/run position the secuirty lamp on the dash will start to either flash or stay on steady after 10 minutes the lamp whould either go off or stop flashing. turn the key to the off position for 1 minute then restart the car it should run then. This process will leran the sensor in the ignition housing to your car. good luck :)
