Pontiac Repair: 88 pontiac trans am headlights, web acess, pontiac trans am

Question
QUESTION: The headlights on my transam work in that they illuminate and go down, but they do not go up. Is this a fixable or common problem? I was thinking if you knew how to fix it, or where to download a electrical diagram for this car that would be great.

ANSWER: Hi courtney:

I only have access on the web back to 1998. so I can't help you on the wiring diagarms. Are both headlamps stuck down? if so I would have ot say they relay for the motors is to blame and to why they will not open up. if one works and the othere does not I would say the issue is a bad headlamp actautor motor. good luck :)

QUESTION: Do you know if they use relays or module in that year model? Both headlamps are down yes.

Answer
I'm not sure, I want to say they use a relay but I can't say for sure I only have web acess back to 1998 and Th dealer I work for now didn't sell Pontiacs up untill last year so I don't have access to old service manuals either. The newer ones used a module.. Did both actuators quit working at the same time or did one quit before the other? If they quit working at the same time I'd say it's a module/relay. a Pontiac dealer parts department can look it up for you and let you know.
