Pontiac Repair: my car wont start, pontiac sunfire, dome lamps

Question
QUESTION:  I was wondering if anybody knows where the safety shut off switch is at on my 1995 pontiac sunfire, because I parked it and left it running and it sputtered and died. Then when I tried to start it I got no power in the entire car and I mean it wouldn't do anything at all so I changed the ignition, checked the fuses and crossed the selonoid to see if the starter would work and all of seemed to be good. So I'm completely stumped. So if any body has any ideas I'm opened to them.

ANSWER: Hi Aaron:

If you have no power at all in the car even things that are not related to the igniton switch like head lamps and dome lamps horn brake lights etc... Then you have some sort of power or ground feed issue going on. Make sure the battery cables are clean and tight as well at the ground connections at the engine block and under the battery tray. Make sure the fuseable links are not burned up at the starter motor. Good luck :)

QUESTION: I can turn on my head lights and my brake lights but that all I get

Answer
That narrows it a bit. I would still take a look at the fuseable links at the starter motor. If they are good Then I would check ofr power feeds into the ignition switch. I believe that car has 2 constant power feeds into the ignition switch They should be red in color.. If not then you have to trace the power back into the engine compartment. If you have 2 in then you have to check for power out Those are usually pink in color and the "crank" voltage is either white or yellow in color.
