Pontiac Repair: 2002 Pontiac Montana- Battery Light Issue, intake manifold gasket, pontiac montana

Question
I have a 2002 Pontiac Montana, with, I believe, a V-6 engine.  For 2 days the battery warning light comes on intermittently.  It stays on for approx. 2 to 3 minutes, then will go off.  Ten minutes later, it will come back on and stay on for another 2 to 3 minutes.  I also smell anti-freeze, but see no leaks.  What does this mean?  Thanks!

Answer
Hi Linda:

Well as for the coolant leak. It could be a buncjh of things. Water pump, lower intake manifold gasket or head gasket. It can't be to bad of a leak YET if you don't see it laking onto the ground. My guess would be intake gaskets. As for the battery lamp. It could be a alternator going bad or a wiring issue going to alternator. The key to finding the Issue is it has to be in a failed state with the lamp on when you have it checked out If the lamp is not on at the time it's looked at the system is working okay and they will not find a fault in the system.
Good luck :)
