Pontiac Repair: Power Window/AC, pontiac montana, rust belt

Question
The drivers window on my 2000 Pontiac Montana 3.9L V-6 will intermittently go up and down sometime it will do nothing. Could the window be off track? I had the switch replaced about 6 months ago. Also my AC quit working.

Answer
Hi Tom:

well first off if the a/c quit more than likely the system is low on a charge of 134A if you live in the rust belt like I do I would say the condenser rotted out from the salt on the roads. VERY common on this van! Now as for the window you could have a switch that's bad and it will not allow the window to rise. Does the window start to work if you cycle the ignition key off and on again? if so You may have a window motor that the circuit breaker is cutting out on. This could be from a bad motor or the regultaor is bad and making the motor work to hard. Regulators are pretty common on these van to go bad. They are serviced as a complet assembly regulator and motor. They are pricey too and a dealer only part unless you can find one cheap on the net somewhere.
Good luck :)
