Pontiac Repair: 1998 firebird, halogen light bulb, crank sensor


Question
I have 1998 firebird 3800 v6. The car started not cranking at times about a month ago.The car has 170k  NO FIRE from coil.Have changed module coil packs. crank position sensor and computer. Module has 12v with switch in on computer has 12v constant and 12v when cranking ornge constant pink on crank.Ignition control at computer has 12v from module on whiteBattrey has good ground.HELP!! Thanks for any help

Hi There:

well if the engine has no spark It has to be eithere a crank sensor,module or wiring issue. Looks like you sort of covered your bases. The computer only control the spark advance. the module it's self controls the spark. I would check continuity in all of the crank sensor wires to the ignition module. Make sure all of them are good. I would slso check the power and ground with a load on them. use a halogen light bulb and hookm it up to the ignition (+) wire and ground turn the key on and make sure the light light. Also amke sure it's lit when cranking the car. If not you have a wiring issue going to the module like possably a ignition switch. The issue is going to be one or the other I think. Good luck :0
