Pontiac Repair: 89 grand prix justs dies while running, fuel pump relay, couple holes

Question
my 89 grand prix just dies. it died while idling after about 30 minutes runtime, finally started after about 15 minutes. i drove it the next morning and it died while i was pulling in to the parking lot. i did notice the fuel pump relay has a couple holes in the plastic casing.

Answer
Hey Tyler:

well you may be on the right track. When it dies you need to see what the engine is missing spark or fuel. If the relay is melted that may be the issue right there. either the relay it's self is bad or the fuel pump is drawing too much amperage and the heat melted the relay. If it has a plugged fuel filter the pump will work harder and draw more amperage and could be the root cause of it all. Good luck :)
