Answer
Hi Tim:

well it can be a bunch of things. My guess is it one of two things though. Eithere the engine vapor locks or it's flooded out. The flooding out can be froma fule injector that is leaking when the car is turned off the gas leaks into the engine and when you try tostart it it's running way to rich to continue to run properly. when this happens you may notice black smoke out the tail pipe. The vapor lock idea is that when  you shut the van off hot the fule pressure bleeds back out of the fule system into the tank and the gas that remains in the fule rail and injectors vaporizes and when you start it the engine is running to lean due to the fule is in a Vapor state instead of a liquid state. this can be cause by a fule pump check valve that is faulty or a fule pressure regulator that is leaking. Good luck :)
