Pontiac Repair: ABS/Traction Control 2000 Pontiac SSei, speed sensors, traction control

Question
When I stopped for a light this morning, I heard a click and my ABS and Traction Control Off lights on the dash came on. I'm assuming this means I have no ABS, does this also mean no traction control? Are these safety issues?

Answer
Hi Regina;

yes you guessed it. when the lamps are on the traction control and abs systems are disabled.It's not really a safety hazzard you still have the base barake system like all cars have. I would get it looked at though. More tham likely you have a wheel speed sensor that has gone bad or a wire harness going to one of the speed sensors. The front ones are more apt to fail on these cars than rear ones but you never know. Good luck :0
