Pontiac Repair: 2004 grand am v6, lock cylinder, grand am

Question
my anti theft control keeps arming not letting me start my car. and I haft to wait the 12 to 15 min to deactivate it to start it. this is doing it twice a day. what is going on with it and how do I fix it??

Answer
Hi Brad:

The most likely cause for this is a bad ignition lock cylinder housing. Ther ther a sensor in the housing that goes bad on these cars. It's the part that the ignition lock cylinder turn in. it will need to be replaced and then the theft system will have to learned one last time. That is what's going on when the lamp is flashing. The sensor resistance keeps changine when you try to start the car and the body computer keeps learning the changed reistance. Good luck :)
