Pontiac Repair: bypass temp sensor., intake air temp, engine coolant

Question
the temp sensor is the smaller of all the plugs, can i put a resistor across this, or a timer, to make the heat only turn on, and i would have to turn it off. what resistance is it looking for, it's no looking for just a circuit closure, or short, i tried that., or if there is no voltage going to the pads, can i send 12 volts right into the pad plugs, bypassing the control module, and using the console switch to turn it on or off.?

Answer
Hi Stephen:

I don't quite know what you are asking me here. Which temp sensor Engine coolant, ambient air temp, inside air temp, Intake air temp. what is the issue with the car? Most temp sesnors work backwards meaning the colder it it the more resistance the sensor has. Most of the sensors work on a 5 volt refrence a module sends out 5 Volts and the resiatnce drops the voltage down and the return voltage is then calculated inside the module to come up with a temp value for the engine ,air or what ever it's measuring.
