Pontiac Repair: stuck in driveway, park car, grand am

I have a 98 Grand Am. Check engine light is on,ABS light is on and the brake warning system light is on.All fuses are O.K.I can't get the car out of park.Car starts and runs fine. What's up.

Hi Gary:

Did you check all the fuses including the ones under the hood by the battery? I'm sure you have some kind of a power feed issue her that ties all of these issues together. Were all the lamps on before you couldn't shift the car out of park or did it all happen at the same time. if it did it at the same time they are all related. if the lamps have been on for a while and you could still shift it out of park there is a different issue. In the worst case cenerio you can take the top off the center console and reach down into the shifter and get it out of park that way. The cars is equipped with a BTSI which is brake trasnmission shit interlock. If that solenoid for the BTSI is not working EG a power issue you will not be able to get the car out of park. Good luck :)
