Pontiac Repair: 2005 Pontiac G6 remote lock button, 2005 pontiac g6, pontiac g6

Question
I have remote start that came with my 2005 Pontiac G6 and the lock buttons on both of my remotes won't work anymore.  Do I just need new remotes and have them reprogrammed to the starter?  Or is there something else wrong?  I'm wondering if it would be cheaper to just get a new remote start put on?

Answer
Hi Lindsay:

Your better off getting 2 new remotes. It's VERY common for the lock buttons to wear out on these remotes. you have to have the remotes programmed at a dealershipo after you get new ones though. Stay away from any kind of aftermarket remote starters they cause more problems then they are worth! Most of them are CHEAP and they have guys installing them that have no clue or just plain don't care how good a job they do putting them in and they wind of failing and then your stuck the car will not start with the key or with the remote starter. If you look around you may be able to find new remotes on a place like e-bay cheap and then you only have to have them programmed. Good luck :)
