Pontiac Repair: 1997 Firebird, lock cylinder, key lock

Question
If I replace the ignition key lock cylinder myself, would it help to pull the air bag fuses? If so, how do I get the cylinder out from the steering column? Thank you

Answer
Hi Chad:
I do not recomend trying this job your self Like I stated before. Pulling the air bad fuse is not the safe way to do it. You need to unplug the air hag harness at the base id the steering column first off. There are to many steps for me to list here and you need a few special tools. You may want to try autozone's web site they have something called Z net it's step by step instructions for common repairs but this is not too common. Give it a try or buy a service repair manual either "motor" Or "chilton" are good stay away from Hyanes manuals. Good luck :)
