Question
alright i own a 96 grand prix with a 3.1 in not so good of shape. but i want to swap in the 3.8 sc motor outta around a 2002 grand prix +gtp transmission. is this possible? i've heard rumors that you can but im looking for a more for sure answer to this.

Answer
Hi Chris:

I'm sure it can be done but there are a lot of things that you have to do to make it work. These are 2 completely different power trains. The car is the the same name but the car are completly different. 1 is an older genetration than the 2002. you have to sawp the engine/transmission and axles. I don't think the axles will fit in the older style suspension so that is a BIG problem. The fuel delivery is completly different and oh by the way the electronics are all togehter differnt to make the engine and transmission work on the 2002 than on the 96. So for a novice I would suggest you not try it. If you really want the SC powerplant find a newer grand prix than your 96 and spend the $$ on that rather than trying to convert an older one to a new engine combiantion.
