Pontiac Repair: Transmission, Sorry!, trasmissions, pointiac

Question
I know you don't have much experience in trasmissions but any information would be helpful. It's a 1987 Pointiac Firebird with a 6cyl 2.8 liter engine. Transmission hesitates after sitting all night but after that it runs fine. Any suggestions?

Thank you for any input.  Sierra

Answer
Hi Sierra:

what do you mean by hesitates? do the shifts take a long time? or when it shifts is it like your missing a gear? which gears does it hesitate into? You could have low oil level in the transmission causing this. it could be a governer that is hanging up when cold. You could have a valve inside the valve body sticking or lastly if when you put it into gear it hesitates before going into gear you could have a seal starting to leak inside the transmission. what ever it may be DO NOT wait to get it looked at if the transmission is actually slipping and that is what the hesitation your talking about it will not take long for it to become completly broken. Good Luck :)
