Pontiac Repair: 2003 gran am, wd 40, lock smith

Question
the key wont turn and the steering wheel is not locked. Can I somehow get it to neutral and start it.

Answer
Hi Ed:

This is a pretty common issue with these cars. either the tumblers are bound up in the lock cylinder or the retainer that holds the tumblers in poped out and that's why the key will not turn. The car has a factory theft system that if the key is not turned the car will not start and run. try a LITTLE bit of wd 40 in the cylinder and tap on the end of the key while turning it and see if it will turn if not it's a job for the dealer or a lock smith.
Good luck :)
