Pontiac Repair: Fuel system, pontiac transport, vacuum line

Question
I have a 1998 Pontiac Transport Montana (3.1 liter engine). The van idles erratic and likes to stall when stopping at intersections. Is this a fuel pump issue or a fuel regulator problem and are both located inside the tank or elsewhere?

Answer
Hi Mark:
It's more than likley not a fule pressure issue youwould have issue running down the road rather than at idle. The regulator is up on the fule rail on the engine. That could be leaking gas into the vacuum like causing issues with the van runnin pull the vacuum line off it and see if there is raw fule in the line. My guess it that this had a gummed up throttle plate and Idle air control motor. clean both of them with carb cleaner and see what happens. one other thing take a look at the pcv valve if it's nor an original equipment part get the factory replacment from a dealer. Good luck :)
