Pontiac Repair: Dual Zone Climate Controls, pontiac grand prix, climate controls

Question
I have a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix GT 3.8L with the Dual Zone Climate Controls.  When both the fan control knob and output knobs (console, floor, defrost, etc.) are set to "Auto", the indicator light next to the Air Conditioning button goes on and stays on.  Is this normal when the climate system is in full auto?  If so, does this mean my A/C compressor is running all the time?  This happens even when the outside temperature is 44 degrees and the inside temp is set to 75 or 76.  Thanks!

Answer
Hi Matt:

I think this is normal for it to be on but I can't be too sure. basically when you have it on auto the a/c compressor has the abaility to run when the conditions are right. it doesn't necessarily mean it's running. if the outside temp is 44 the cmpressor can stil run if you have the setting for the mode on deforst. floor and console it shouldn't run when it's that cold out but the indicator can still be on. Good luck :)
