Pontiac Repair: Power steering, gear rack, rack and pinion

My '02 Grand Prix turns fine to the right but just overnight the left turns have gotten extremely hard.Like no  power assist?? Thank you

sounds to me like the steering gear is leaking internally and that is why you are having issues turning it in one direction and not the other. This is pretty common on cars with a steering gear "rack and pinion" the gear will ahve to be replaced. if it did it in both directions it could be a pump that's bad as well but since it only does it in one direction it has to be in the gear it's self. good luck :)
