Pontiac Repair: Hello, intake manifold gasket, pontiac grand prix

Question
I have a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix.  3.1 liter (3100 seris) with a 4T60E Trans.  I am leaking coolant on the firewall side of the engine.  i checked around the head gasket looks fine but when i squeeze the radiator hose next to the thermostat housing and put a mirror next to the timing cover it leaks a lil.  can you tell me it coolant runs through there or could it be in the middle side of the head next to the intake manifold.  thanks for the help greatly appreciated

Answer
Hi Brian:

well it can be a few things coolant does flow through the timing cover so it could ahve a bad gasket or it could have a leaking lower intake manifold gasket. that is the more likely cause. they leak ALL the time on these engines. the original gm replacment parts have been redesigned so they shouldn't leak again after being replaced. Good luck :)
