Pontiac Repair: 99 sunfire, pontiac sunfire, vapor lock

when i start my sunfire when its been sitting for several hours or longer, it will shake for a while.  if i try to put in gear while it is shaking it will make a grinding noise, after restarting it a few times and stepping on the gas when restarting it seems to run ok. it is a 99 pontiac sunfire se. it has over 120,000 miles.

You got me on the gringing noise It can be just about anything. But as for the hard start after sitting and running rough. My first guess wouls be a fuel delivery issue. either you have fuel injectors that are leaking when the engine is shut off and the fuel is leaking past the injectors into the engine and making a hard start or the fuel pressure is bleeding off back into the tank and you are getting a vapor lock in the fuel system making it hard to start. I would first look at the fuel system on this car. Good luck :)
