How do you change the thermostat on a 1996 Pontiac gRAND aM 4 cylinder?

hi there:

The thermostat is on the back side of the engine by the fire wall under the water pump. you have to remove the metal coolant pipe that is attached to the oil pan and the bottom of the water outlet under the water pump and the thermostat sits on the pipe. there are 2 screws that attach the pipe to the outlet.
