Pontiac Repair: dome light, jam switches, override switch

what causes a dome light to illuminate when the car is stopping? 01 grnd am

Hi Mike:
I would start looking at the door jam switches or one of the switchs on the door lock assemblies. If this is a 2 door it doesn't have door jam switches. it only has switches built into the front door locks. The jam switches ate on the pillar between the front and rear doors. unplug them one at a time and see if the problem goes away. the jam switches just pull out of the body. the switches on the door locks have to be disconnected from inside the doors. Also there is the possability that the override switch on the dash is bad try disconnecting that as well. Good luck :)
